Well it has been a good last three day

On Saturday I went to party and had tons of fun

On Sunday one my friends from uni that bugger of to live in Cairns came back to live in Canberra. We caught up and it was just like old times.

And today (well technically yesterday now) I saw my second nephew being born. It only took about 5 hours compared to 12 for the last one. I felt more nervous for this time for some reason but it all went okay (knock on wood).

Anyway I'm feeling good. Life has been fun over the last few weeks. I've had heaps of improv stuff to do and see. I went to Brissie to see my best friend. I'm very happy about my old friend coming back to Canberra because it seems like everybody only ever LEAVES Canberra.

Check out my face book page for pics of my new nephew, he is very cute. That being said he just look EXACTLY like a baby. You'll see what I mean. He looks pretty much like every other baby. After all the crap we went through to get the birthmark removed from the face of the last one we are thankful though.

I had a great day on Saturday. I went to the wedding of of couple of my friends from improvisational theatre. After that rehearsed for an improv show that I was in later than night. We did a show for the Science Festival at the Convention Centre.

This was the first improv performance that my parents had ever come to. For a long time I told them not to come along because I was too embarrassed and I didn't think I was experienced enough. This time I was happy to have them both come along.

I was a bit nervous at first because I didn't feel I was that great a rehearsal. However the excitement of being in front of a crowd must have "tripped my switch" and I felt very comfortable.

All my scenes went well and I got a lot of laughs. In fact everybody had a very good night. It was such a buzz. The last three shows I've seen were okay but lacked a bit of energy. This show went perfectly.

I had the craving for red meat today but not the motivation to do a steak. So instead I invented the Taco Burger. The recipe for this orgiastic feast of artery clogging delights is below:

The Taco Burger

Serves 3 or one very hungry person (I had two, I was starving)

Ingredients:

500 grams beef mince
3 burger buns
2 shittake mushrooms
2 cloves of garlic
2 Italian tomatoes (though any will do - the adventurous might try drained sun-dried tomatoes)
1 packet of Taco seasoning
1 head of lettuce
1/2 a small onion
Olive Oil (enough to just cover the frying pan)
Thousand Island Sauce to taste
Margarine if you want some extra fat to clog your arteries

Directions:

Dice onion, garlic and shittake mushrooms finely then fry in olive oil until the onions are translucent. Mix onions, mushrooms and packet of Taco seasoning into mince (you might need to add a little water as the taco seasoning tends to dry out the meat). Once these ingredients are thoroughly mixed make the mixture into patties about the size of your burger buns and 1.5 - 2 cm thick (oh come on you know what they look like, if not visit hungry jacks/burger king you utter hermit).
Sear both sides of your patties in oil to seal in the juices and then cook through out.

Spread your burger buns with marg, add your patty, add sliced tomatoes, lettuce and a dollop of Thousand Island Sauce.

There you have it. It takes the best of the taco and the burger and combined it into one. Oh and one of these everyday will almost certainly kill you with cholesterol poisoning - so goodness all ‘round!

Notes:

If you like you can mix your beef mince with pork - though some may need to renounce their religion first.

You might like to add a ton or so more of shittake mushrooms.

Vegetarian alternative:

Eat a fucking salad you hippie!

Freudian interpretation:

This meal may represent a breast fixation or other tendencies as buns are a somewhat suggestive shape. God know what the Thousand Island Sauce means but it probably means you are very sick in the head and should seek help immediately.

Here is what is going on in my life:

Dad has kidney cancer. This is a pretty big blow for him because he is in the process of recovering from his prostate cancer operation in 2006. He just had an operation to fix the resulting incontinence. That operation didn't work immediately and that was actually an incredible stroke of luck. They wanted to see why it didn't work and gave him an ultrasound and in the process found the cancer in his kidney. Luckily it seems the operation he had for incontinence has started to kick in so it may have saved his life AND done the job it was meant to do.

Luckily so far there is no evidence that it has spread elsewhere in the body. His other kidney is good. He is having the bad one out on the 1st of October. There has been a bit of worry because my dad is diabetic and that often causes kidney failure, so there has been a bit of debate as to whether the whole kidney should come out or only part. Mum and I having been finding out heaps about kidney function tests and debating whether his results indicate declining kidney function (our current opinion is you can't base it on the tests he's had because for some he fasted and some he didn't which would affect his creatine levels). We do this is because we both intellectualise things to cope with emotional stress.

At my school we just finished science week. The whole thing has been very stressful and I'm glad its over....though there is still project marking to do.

There is more I'm not telling you and I wish I could but some may not understand. I'll just be mysterious instead.

I've finally bought myself a digital camera over here so I can take photos when I travel around with my mum who is coming tomorrow.

By the way if you haven't gone on facebook and friended me your are missing out on photos. Go. Do it. Now!I've taken a few on my house and the surrounding area. I might take some video soon so you can get a feel for the place.

In other news my little nephew is getting plastic surgery to remove the huge mole above his right eyebrow. He just went in to put a skin expander under it. Apparently the operation went well. I wish I could give the little guy a cuddle, I miss the little bugger.
